oh and…

um, oops. Happy New year! It’s January, isn’t it?

(This post is also a bit of an experiment to see how the font comes out – that last one seems to be formatted differently to all the others, and I’m not sure why. One of these days I’ll get a proper website and not just use the free templates wordpress hand out…)

(eta – Right. Seems to be that the latest post has its own formatting, giving it a very slightly different appearance to the older ones – and I’ve only just noticed this. I should probably clean my specs more often.)

The Dark Half approaches!

We’re just starting our preparations for this evening – hope everyone’s looking forward to a fun Halloween/Samhain/Día de los Muertos weekend.

Obviously in an ideal world we’d be all ready to go at this point, but no. I’ve spent the last fortnight getting my car ready for an MOT retest, after it failed the emissions test first time out. Thankfully it made it through on its second attempt, but it’s meant that I’ve thought of little else for the last fourteen days.

And those of you that have spawned some freaky halloween knitwear in the form of peculiarclavas, I salute and thank you! Please forgive my apparent lack of concern for those with seaming and end-weaving allergies…

So – time to get off the computer and Do Spooky Stuff. (There may be pics to follow.)

See you on the other side…

Well, we’re getting ready for moving day, so this may be the last post I manage for a couple of weeks – hopefully less, if the broadband providers and the phone company can manage it.

Things are slowly disappearing into bags and boxes, but we did at least manage a semblance of normality for halloween, with a cobbled-together collection of spooky food –

I was particularly tickled by the eggy eyeballs, myself.

And we didn’t manage to get a pumpkin from the shop (and of course, my homegrown one ended up as mollusc food), so er, we made one from pizza.

Not much time for knitting, though, in all of this. I want to get my latest pattern-in-progress finished, but there’s no way that’s happening until after the weekend – we move Thursday, and the weekend’s going to see a bunch of us leaving for my sister’s hen night, in a castle on the shores of Loch Long.

‘It’ll all be done and dusted in three days’ is my current mantra. Back to the packing…

Hello world!

Well, introductory post editing, here we go. The title of this post has me hearing Kate Bush singing ‘Hello Earth’ in my head… which isn’t a bad thing, so I’m not going to edit that. Plus, well,  it’s also appropriate.

And it was time to stop putting off writing here and jump in with a what-I’m-up-to, before I’m up to something else entirely.
